Golden Day serves quite possibly the hottest Chinese food in Chinatown.
My ma-po tofu was completely devoid of vegetables, save for spring onions and chopped chilli. The chilli outnumbered the spring onions by a great quantity. A guesstimate as to how many whole chillis were in there would be about eight. Yes, it was hot.

Golden Day is classed as Hunan style, but many of the dishes and the pure heat reminded me of its neighbour Szechuan. This used to some time ago be the site of Aroma, which was an above par Cantonese. Golden Day is an exciting upgrade and beats the generic restaurants found in Chinatown hands down.

The peppers with pork is fabulous!!! Have had it three times and each time was great. The service is good, too. Very, VERY interesting menu, so if you are looking to break out of the traditional Chinese menu this is a great place to try. Just across the road from the Curzon Soho theatre, too.more
