Clapham books is the closest thing to perfection when it comes to bookshops. The selection is superb although I usually look for science fiction. The staff is extremely polite. helpful and knowledgeable. I can never just come here for 10 minutes and leave with the book I came looking for. It's more like a 3 hour stay during which I have bought at least 5 books.more

This is a favourite bookshop of mine. I'm not a big reader, but the majority of book I own, mostly local history books, I have bought from here. Also has a good selection of maps. Thought I'd add this poem to my review. Clapham Books There is a local bookshop

Clapham is what a bookstore should be: floor-to-ceiling books and a knowledgeable staff willing to answer questions.

I wish we had more bookstore like this in the States. Over here bookstores have morphed into a weird coffee shop/greeting card store/music outlet hybrid with a smattering of Oprah's Picks displayed in a bin just so they can keep the bookstore pretense alive....more

I love books, and there's no better place to buy them than an independent bookstore. It increases the feeling of discovery and intimacy that goes with book-buying - makes it more special, and of course helps out your local community, rather than one of the mega chains.

This shop is pretty small but has an excellent selection. You'll find bestsellers alongside some classic treasures and...more
