The lunch special is a decent deal for 7 pounds or so, but the food just wasn't that great.
I had the kebab which was decent. The saag chicken was the worst I have ever had. The sag was literally chunks of tomato and onion with some spinach sprinkled on it... So not a rich creamy sauce you expect.

walking down this part of brick lane reminded me of my travels in south asia... for a split second you forget you're in london, especially haggling with the restaurant touts desiring your business... this is my first restaurant that i ate at in brick lane and i wasn't disappointed... they had a good selection dishes in their menu... the service was excellent the venue was smart and the food...more
Clipper is a great value on Brick Lane, and I was pleased with my experience! We "negotiated" at the door for a complimentary drink with dinner and 20% off our bill. Inside, we were please with the neat and clean decor and attentive service.

I've been to Clipper twice now and both times have been great. It's a bit of a challenge to walk fairly far up Brick Lane past all the other restaurant recruiters, but it's worth it!
The staff are so super friendly. The main fella recognized me even though it had been about 5 months between visits and chatted with me as though we were friends who go way back.
