By far the nicest take on a traditional pub. The Commercial is classy and stylish yet unpretentiously natural.
I fail to see how anyone could dislike The Commercial, it has the sophistication of a lad back but tasteful bar with everything that you would expect from a pub, from draught beer to suspended glass racks and beer mats.

Set in the center of Herne Hill, the Commercial is a pub that delicately balances between the aura of the "old man's pub" and something more modern an accessible. From experience I have often found this to be a risky move, yet the Commercial manages to pull it off successfully.

Popped into the Commercial to grab some chow with a friend and her dog one lovely June evening. The first thing I noticed was that there a large queue at the bar, and only one barmaid. The pub advertized "Prix Fixe", 2 courses for £10, but we couldn't see any Prix Fixe menu. Eventually we established that this menu was on the tillpoint only and she hadn't had time to print it out.
