Wish the Chips (3 Stars) were crispier, maybe some salt - but the Haddock was moist and very tasty (5 Stars). Hot, crispy batter, and although I only selected a 'regular' order, it was large enough that only one piece was needed.

Got lucky though and choose a very good and fairly hoppy local beer - which paired perfectly with the Haddock, and provided that extra bit of citrus that was missing...more

Friendly service and decent food! I thought the haddock tasted better than the cod. Very touristy spot.more

The British don't seem to fall for mid-20th century nostalgia like we Americans do. They go for Victorian, WWI, or Camelot....

If you have a smaller appetite, I would recommend getting the kids meal, cod bites and chips, it was a decent size and I would not have been able to finish the adult size. The fish and chips were pretty good, I had fresher and better fish and chips at the Tail End in St. Andrews, Scotland, but Poppies wasn't bad.

I give 5 stars for the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream... so good!!more
