Rex Whistler Restaurant at Tate Britain
Overview
Please note that the Rex Whistler Restaurant will be closing on 5 July for refurbishment. It is due to reopen in 2013.
The Rex Whistler Restaurant is home to one of the most original restaurants in London.
Head chef Colin Barnett creates contemporary British menus that suit a broad range of tastes, whether you are looking for an exceptional lunch, weekend brunch or a British afternoon tea. The restaurant is also home of the award winning Tate wine list compiled by Head Sommelier Hamish Anderson. The ethos of the Tate list remains very much as it did when the restaurant opened in 1972 - the list is about excellent value fine wines from all over the world.
The specially commissioned mural which surrounds the restaurant is titled The Expedition in Pursuit of Rare Meats and was finished by Rex Whistler in 1927
