This was my first pub experience in London and it I was not totally impressed, nor disappointed. I've read other reviews concerning various gastropubs and suppose my expectations were tempered. The atmosphere was fun, not too loud or too quiet. The service was friendly and helpful. Once you find a table and determine what you want, you have to order at the bar, which was fine. I wish I could give this place a higher rating - it's sentimental to me in that it's one of the first places my now-fiance and I went to nearly 5 years ago (and eventually became our local when we moved around the corner.)
Gets crowded but generally with a lot of tourists, as there are several neighbouring hotels.

Medium-sized pub so you have a seat to sit in and a table to place your drink on.
Sometimes it's nice to rest your feet instead of having to stand in a crowded place (i.e. the tube, or a small pub).
This place also has some pub grub - but what I like most is the friendly staff and the easy-going atmosphere.more
