Highgate is one of my favourite places in London, simply because as the name Highgate Village suggests, it really has a village and community feel - like you are completely outside of London but actually only a 10 minute tube ride away from the hub.

Highgate is a great area, it is close to centre of London and a beautiful little town. The Gatehouse pub sits between two roundabouts and is impossible to miss, and I am pretty sure that it is the oldest pub in Highgate.
Inside is very well maintained and so is the garden, which is swarming with flowers.
They have a great selection of real Ales, if that is you thing. I don't usually drink...more
