Another Saturday, another meal at a delicious dog friendly pub.
This time it was The Garden Gate right by Hampstead Heath station. I ordered a selection of starters including scotch eggs, feta arancini balls and chips with cheese and gravy.
Portions were larger than expected so could have gotten away with just ordering 2 starters but the greed got me. The chips/cheese/gravy combo was...more
Right on the high street of Hamstead Heath near the park is a big open space pub with bbq. You won't miss it with then we smokes coming out from the gate but a lovely place for family including dogs too! It's a self service scheme so you order your food/drinks at the front. I don't know if this is always the case but the food here was terrible. Low quality produce and cooked terribly. My beef roast came out and it looked horrendous - and was. I wasn't at all impressed but when my five other friends food came out there's was just as bad - fish and chips, roast pork loin, Mac and cheese. It was al really poor.

Great vibe and setting but such average food. Well, to be specific, we had the roast. Most of it was definitely microwaved and not even lashings of gravy could save this shoddy Sunday classic.
It gets really busy so I understand that table service isn't an option but the little service we experienced was just OK. We will go back , but only for drinks.more
