This place is right off of the Baker St. tube station. I visited here for one of my school's mixers and there are two levels in case downstairs gets too crowded. In general, a decent bar to meet up with friends.more
The Globe pub near Baker Street is a huge pub which gets lots of tourists. I think they must rely on them because one visit is enough. I ordered roast beef and for some reason this pub doesn't provide roast beef when you order it. They provide a chunk of braised beef instead. They call it roast beef on the menu. Just another over priced central London pub, nothing spectacular.
It's part of Taylor Walken -pubs (a big chain) so the food is good but the beer is expensive: £5.40 for a pint is the most I have ever paid in London and hopefully will be!
If your in the are and just want a pint I recommend the Metropolitan across the street. It's a Wetherspoon (cheap pub chain) so the drink won't set you...more
The Globe is a basic local - nothing amazingly amazing but nothing horrible either. However, for being a bar that's so close to a popular underground station, it's rarely ever packed and I've almost always gotten a table, and that alone makes it a win.
Beers at the wooden bar in the back, tables throughout the space and some barrels turned into standing tables on the outside patio,

But seriously and in all-honest-to-God-sincerity, this was by far the worst sandwich I've ever tried to eat in my life.
Yes, tried. I had to wash down each bite with beer because it was bone dry. The bread threatening to disappear into dust by one mean glance. A slab of mustard, some dry ham (how can ham be dry!? It is old). Some cheese that was indecipherable....more
