Situated on Bateman Street in the heart of the West End, the Golden Oven is ideal for long lunches and pre-theatre dinners – especially if you’re a fan of authentic Indian food. The emphasis is on fresh spices and traditional recipes so you can be sure the dishes taste just as they would in India. The restaurant itself is relaxed and unpretentious, with friendly staff to guide diners through the extensive menu. Classics like lamb karahi and chicken madras are done very well here, but we recommend trying one of the chef’s signature dishes. Try the garlic chilli chicken if you like your food hot and spicy, or go for a thali if you want to try a little bit of everything.
The Golden Oven are now accepting Christmas and New Year's reservations.

I can confirm what Archer D wrote: Staff is rude. We paid 43£ for lunch for 2 people. Prices on menu were lower! We had 2 small vegetable dishes with rice, chapati, 2 papadam, yogurt and 2 Indian teas. The vegetable portions are very tiny and they are extremely overpriced. Very strange bill: He charged what he wanted! We didn't understand it! The Indian service staff was trying to be funny but...more
Small place that offers an excellent lunchtime offer of daal + curry + rice or naan for £6.95 which is as good as it gets in the West End. The daal is souplike but flavoursome and the jalfrezi I had had a bit of a kick to it. Now I know it's here I'll be here a lot of lunches.

Terrible service, rude and unhelpful. Completely over priced, and in my opinion just decent Indian food.more
Service, as everyone keeps saying, was AWESOME. As someone with little experience with Indian food, the server/manager was super helpful in helping my date and I decide on what to order. He knew specifically what to suggest for a vegan diner. I can't say it was the best Indian food I've had (again, as I barely know the cuisine), but I would go back and recommend it to others.
I loved the service, liked the food but overall, my experience was just meh with Golden Oven.
Starting on a positive note, the staff is extremely friendly and very helpful in choosing dishes or even offering things that are not on the menu.
As for the not so good things, this place is just TINY. If you are sitting near the singular aisle in this place, guaranteed you will be bumped around...more
