Strange pub to me. I've seen this pub many many years and even been there many many times over many a year. It appears like a 'local' pub. Well actually it once was with much more dodgy clients but thats gone now and it's done up, with even a roast being advertised with much more families turning up.

This review is purely for their food. The service is slow and servers not very friendly. As the waitress stated "I'm a vegan so can't help you with sauces or anything food related", not that it would have helped. Good food, good music, good company, nice pub. A great venue for music, comedy and poetry. They do a very good Sunday roast and have an all round decent menu.more
Although I missed the weekly live Jazz when I went to the Great Northern Railway Tavern I had a lovely time none-the-less. I enjoyed a marvelous pudding and found the atmosphere warm and inviting. Will definitely return to catch a love show.more
I visited this pub on a Sunday afternoon for the weekly jazz jam session. Apparently it's been going on for the last 30 years! The live music comes from a large room in the back.
