You can tell a beer garden is authentic if the staff is German and they've got Munich beers on tap! After a lovely afternoon in Richmond Park, Stein's is an excellent choice for a meal and beer wind down by the river. The only caveat is that you have to order food in order to get the beer. Gets pretty busy on warm days, so you have to be ok with smushing to a table with strangers.more
A very nice beer garden that overlooks the river. The food is quite good too. It's mostly sausages, but they are of good quality. The beer list features some good German beers and they have Almdudler (an Austrian herb lemonade that is second to nothing). Get there early if you plan to have lunch on a weekend.more

While I wouldn't quite describe it as a beer garden, Stein's is a small spot on the bank of the Thames just outside the centre of Richmond. They've got a covered area with plenty of bench seating, but it does get busy so turn up early.
