It was manic trying to find a seat and a table to enjoy dinner at, but once we did...GAME ON! We had the Sunday roast and it was delicious, although those damn Yorkshire puds keep coming up more light and fried than fluffy and baked.
Everyone from the servers to the patrons were friendly and welcoming and I'm pretty happy to have finally found a place that's close enough to call my local.more
Went for thanksgiving dinner. First class place, great food great service!!! The owner was extremely friendly and he has a wonderful staff.more
Liked The Marksman.
It's a world away from the pretence and the 'look at me' of Shoreditch High St, which is just round the corner, and this is reflected in the staff, the locals and relaxed attitude. We ventured in here after the flower market, on a very hot Sunday afternoon. There were a few people in (looked like regulars) but I didn't get that feeling we were being sized up which is the case in some locals.

I have to say, I'd have never entered the threshhold of the Marksman had a good friend not been a regular.
I live a lot closer to Old Street and so there are a plethora of pubs to choose from. Thus, I'd always been too lazy to venture a little more far afield for a quiet drink.
