The restaurant itself is attractive and has a good atmosphere. Light and airy, it was the perfect location for a late lunch on a muggy day in early summer.
The food? I don't know. It was ok. I had the haddock and chips, and while the chips were pretty tasty, the fish was rather bland.

No, not the hideous American chain Applebee's (as Jade V. says in her review below)..... but a quaint, lovely, delicious cafe/restaurant in Borough Market.
Was lucky enough to get a table outside on a warm Spring evening. At first I was suspicious as so many other restaurants were packed, but this one wasn't. In retrospect it was merely good timing.

It pains me to write this review.
I have enjoyed this restaurant many times and visited it each time I was in London and recommended it to friends frequently.
But a few hours following my last meal there, I became violently ill. I ended up in bed for over a week, ruining my entire trip to London. After returning to the U.S., I needed to see my GP and was prescribed antibiotics.
Ho hum.... The smoked mackerel mouse is OK, but not spectacular it would be improved by a little chilli and the pickled red onion would probably be better replaced by a wedge of lemon. The monkfish was plentiful but cooked a little too aggressively in contrast to the accompanying chorizo which wasn't cooked enough,
Their creme brûlée is lacklustre, a little too thick with the thinnest crust...more
Don't expect anything even remotely similar to the American casual dining chain of a similar name. Expect fresh seafood in a slightly classier environment, with a price to match.
Got there on a Friday for dinner, early in the evening, and it was pretty packed. We managed to get the last two free seats at tables, though. The service was courteous and speedy.
