City Spice - Brick Lane
Overview
London’s City Spice claims to be the best Indian restaurant on Brick Lane. It’s quite a claim to live up to but we think that it might do just that. Located centrally on the notorious street, City Spice announces itself with neon signage and a bold blue painted exterior. Inside the dining room is bright, thanks to both large windows on two sides and a light, cream paint job and white tiled flooring. Entirely modern but unpretentious, the restaurant has modern furniture and contemporary images of London on the walls as well as touches of Indian influences throughout, its décor doubtless appealing to East London’s young and arty set. Although inspired by the Bangladeshi origin of its owners and chefs, City Spice’s menu covers most Indian regions, providing curries, tandoori specialties and tikkas alongside recipes from Bangladesh. Competitively priced for the area, it really isn’t difficult to see why pre-booking a table is absolutely essential for this popular restaurant.
