Coal Grill and Bar is an excellent idea, the position is great and the menu is good. But wait for the 'but' attached to this statement. My ex-boss used to call all our company meetings at this restaurant, despite the consistent wrong orders, rude waiters and complete absence of a managerial figure. Coal can be an absolutely fantastic place, depending on when you go. We have been for quite a few dinners and breakfasts here and have hardly ever seen it packed to the rafters.

Food good and very relaxing place to eat, generally quiet even at peak times, service can be slack however. Order a drink and then several minutes later you realise you have not got it yet and look to the bar where you can see someone fixing your drink, however you have to use stop motion photography to detect any movement. The Coal and Grill did not impress me. I had the idea of getting an relaxing early meal before heading upstairs to the Odeon cinema. the food was average and over priced and the service was less than satisfactory. It's such a shame because it's in quite a nice spot in Wimbledon and it has the potential to be a great eatery.
