About Jack the Ripper
In 1888, a serial killer stalked the streets of East London, murdering women who worked as prostitutes and mutilating their bodies.
The killings were widely reported by the newspapers of the day, making the impoverished Whitechapel area notorious.
Despite a huge manhunt, the killer was never caught, and rumours about his identity still circulate today.
