The National Maritime Museum is welcoming home the Maritime Memories Machine, a pop-up van that has travelled across the country collecting seaside stories and memories from the public. The colourful pop-up van, which has been designed in the style of an ice cream van, will make its final stop outside the National Maritime Museum for a celebratory homecoming event on Tuesday 5 September. Visitors to the van will be able to listen to some of the stories that have been collected, as well as sharing their own memories and personal connections to the sea which will feature in a brand new permanent gallery called Sea Things, set to open at the NMM in 2018. The farewell event is free to drop in and will be at the Romney Road entrance to the NMM from 2-4pm on Tuesday 5th September.
