About

Dana Al Fardan, Qatar's preeminent composer and CEO and founder of Qatar's only record label, DNA Records, brings her classical repertoire to the iconic Theatre Royal Haymarket, London on 17 September. Sandstorm is the second full album from Qatari composer, singer and symphonic artist, Dana Al Fardan. Originally recorded by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra at Katara Studios in Doha, the work blends sumptuous strings, choral vocals and soloists with traditional Middle Eastern rhythms. A rich and evocative fusion of Arabic-influenced world music, Sandstorm is a symphonic journey across the globe, offering a vibrant box of delights for the musical nomad. In Dana's own words, "Sandstorm is my musical evolution into a space and time that has opened my mind up to a whole new world of expression. In this project I try to offer a fresh perspective on musical themes from my roots as an Arab while exploring the universal components of certain sounds and musical influences from around the world." The program has been orchestrated and arranged by renowned London-based conductor, arranger and composer, Dave Arch, will be performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra (LMO), and conducted by Musical Director, Andy Brown, in a rare showcase of the Qatari composer's interpretation of world music to an international audience.
