Challenging the lines between Rock, electronica, beats and Chaabi, this exciting double bill brings together the euphoric sounds of Jordan's El Morabba3 with the enthralling pulse of Egypt's Islam Chipsy. A whirlwind of expression and resonating beats, their sincerity and impulse have made each band musical ambassadors in their own right. About the artists: ISLAM CHIPSY Vital players in the urban chaabi scene, Islam Chipsy has risen to the forefront in the ever-growing popularity of what has traditionally been regarded as Egyptian working-class celebration music. With their success, and Chipsy's signature keyboard hooks now rippling far beyond the backstreets of their native Cairo, their charismatically frantic sets have sharply remolded the appeal of live chaabi (popular) performance. Flanked by two drummers and supercharged drumkits on each side, EEK, Islam Chipsy's band manoeuvre through wild yet tightly syncopated rhythms without missing a beat. Supported by Egypt's leading experimental music label 100Copies, their 2014 bootleg release of 'Live at the Cairo High Cinema Institute' has propelled them to musical frontlines, where they have remained ever since. EL MORABBA3 In 2009, Jordanian-Palestinian band El Morabba3, (the square in Arabic) came together to offer a groundbreaking sound with their unique music and socially engaged lyrics. Their fresh rock/post-rock, electronic sound and themes projected euphoria and audacity, quickly catapulting the band to massive success. Their artistic journey saw them become one of the leading socially and politically relevant bands reviving the Arab independent music scene, solidified since the release of their second album Taraf Al Kheit in 2016. The band is known for breaking cultural barriers and appealing to a generation of hunger-stricken fans living in an unstable and restless region; one that expressed the thoughts, concerns and anger of the people towards the realities they are living today. Produced by MARSM in partnership with El- Wekala. Sponsored by Al-Araby TV Network.
