Lost for Words at The Foundling Museum Free

About

Join a poetry workshop inspired by the notes mothers left with their babies at the Foundling Hospital. Literary historian Dr Emma Newport introduces the rhymed notes of the Foundling Hospital billet books, written by mothers who gave up their children to the care of the Hospital. Billet books are bound ledgers of the registration forms, including notes and tokens, for each child brought to the Hospital in the eighteenth century. She is joined by acclaimed poet Deanna Rodger, who leads a poetry workshop on the theme of lost and found. This event is part of the Being Human festival, led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in partnership with the Arts & Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
