Carmina Priapea: Tosca at The Drayton Arms Theatre

Until

About

Carmina's all-male production in August will set the opera in a drag club called, "The Church". Tosca becomes the Torch singer, Mario a painter/decorator and Scarpia the manager of the club. In this new context, "Tosca" explores the darker side of club life: substance abuse, murder and assault. The cast will be Calvin Wells (soprano; Tosca); Jonathan Cooke (tenor; Mario), Matthew Tilley (baritone; Scarpia), Robin Whitehouse (tenor; Spoletta), James Schouten (baritone; Angelotti), Jon Openshaw (baritone; Sacristan), and Keith Pun (alto; Pastore). Our director is Mark Burns with Musical Director Andrew Charity. The performance will be sung uncut in Italian with piano accompaniment.
