See the young and exciting Distractfold ensemble present Nordic music for instruments as well as objects, solenoids and transducers.
Metsa is forest in Finnish, and also the title of Tytti Arola's piece for violin and tape, setting the theme for this evening concert. The young Manchester ensemble Distractfold and conductor Rei Munakata, guide us through this shimmering musical forest with works by six contemporary Nordic composers. Besides regular instruments, the ensemble uses objects, solenoids and transducers.
The young ensemble Distractfold from Manchester, specialise in performing instrumental, electro acoustic and mixed chamber music of the 21st century. Currently they are busy curating and producing the 2017 Cut and Splice Festival, which is taking place in Manchester. Alongside work in their hometown, Distractfold perform regularly in festivals and concert series at home and abroad.
