March 2017 saw the first South London Beer Festival (SLBF), the brainchild of Jennifer Allen (aka Lady Pub Diaries) who wished to support and celebrate independent breweries in South London. The first festival was a huge success and saw over 400 people enjoy some new beers and taste local street food. £800 was raised for the MS Society UK, a charity close to Jennifer's heart as her mum suffers from the disease. The SLBF returns this Sunday July 23rd, 12pm to 6pm, to the Tooting Tram & Social, hosting new breweries and summer craft beers and ciders. Some favourites returning include Tooting-based By The Horns, Villages from Deptford, Anspach & Hobday from Bermondsey and Canopy from Herne Hill. There'll be a craft beer and cider lounge supported by Craft Tooting and some craft ciders from Pilango Cider. There'll also be some new faces - Roaring Four Brewing based in Earlsfield and The Cronx Brewery from Croydon. Tooting resident The Chilli Man will be selling meat and veggie chilli, plus daring punters to take his chilli challenge - pop by to find out more! Eat Wandsworth will be dishing up special homemade curries and donating the proceeds to charity. Proceeds made from the beer festival will be donated to the St George's Hospital Charity. There'll be live music and DJ's throughout the festival. Although the festival finishes at 6pm, the Tram invites you to stay and enjoy more music and their retro video games evening, which will carry on until midnight. Tickets are just £2 each and selling fast!
