About

When the Second World War ended, work began on rebuilding the City. Many Roman remains had been unearthed during the devastation of the Blitz, and the Roman and Medieval London Excavation Council was set up to undertake archaeological recordings.

View rarely seen excavation photographs and discover the sites that were uncovered, including the Temple of Mithras and the remains of the Roman fort and City wall.

The exhibition goes on to tell the amazing story of the care and preservation of the Temple of Mithras, from initial efforts to preserve and reconstruct it in the 1960s, to the development of the London Mithraeum. The exciting new permanent home for this vital piece of London’s Roman history is located on the site of Bloomberg's new European headquarters.

This exhibition is in partnership between Bloomberg, City of London Corporation, the Museum of London and MOLA.
