About

Experience the first UK exhibition celebrating the iconic designer with Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

As well as dressing some of the most glamorous figures from the 1950s and 60s, Cristóbal Balenciaga’s designs inspired the likes of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel and his work continues to influence haute couture today.

Find more than 100 items of clothing and 20 hats, alongside sketches, photographs, fabric samples and catwalk footage demonstrating the Spanish designer’s masterful craftsmanship. The exhibition also uses X-rays to deconstruct the pioneering design process that made his creations so exceptional.
