The folksy Irish quartet fronted by singer Dolores O'Riordan perform songs from their repertoire dating back to the 1980s when the group were first formed. Though generally considered a rock band The Cranberries style often incorporates many folk and indie influences and became one of the most successful groups to emerge from the pre-Brit Pop indie scene. Though the group originate from Limerick Ireland their music has achieved critical acclaim in the United States selling 14.5 million copies of their album in America alone. Hired by the group after responding to an add in the local paper Dolores O'Riordan went on to become the familiar female face of the otherwise rugged male group and changed the band's name from the original The Cranberry Saw Us to make the band appear more mainstream. In 2003 the group releases their definitive album Stars: The Best of 1992-2002. The band are touring once again rekindling some of that old Irish charm.
