The Birmingham Stage Company regularly stage wonderful adaptations of children's stories for the festive season; this year, it presents the Roald Dahl adventurous tale of the young boy who invents a new medicine to cure his grandmother's terrible temper. Directed by Graeme Messer, who was at the helm for Tom's Midnight Garden, and newly adapted by David Wood, George's Marvellous Medicine promises to be full of fun and magic for all, and should continue the company's tradition of offering masterful children's theatre, for everyone. The production is embarking on a national tour, taking in venues in Reading, Torquay, Hull and Bristol, with a residency at Birmingham's Old Rep Theatre over the Christmas and New Year season, offering a fun-packed alternative to the season's usual pantomime fares.
