Londoners through and through, this duo have been filling both the charts and concert halls for years with their Rockney songs. However, long before the likes of Gertcha or The Sideboard Song featured in the Top 20, Chas Hodges had been tinkling the ivories for Joe Meek and backed Jerry Lee Lewis on stage. He was also a member of Heads, Hands And Feet with guitarist Albert Lee before joining up with Dave Peacock to form their eponymous duo. Their debut album, One Fing 'n' Anuvver, gave the first taste of their cockney humour and they were soon championed by influential DJs John Peel and Charlie Gillett. It was while they were playing a pub gig that they were signed up to make beer adverts, which led to national exposure and the success of Gertcha. This was followed by such successes as Snooker Loopy, where they teamed up with stars of the green baize and also stars of the green turf, Tottenham Hotspur FC for a number of the latter's records. They even toured the USA in 1998 after the unexpected success of their song Flying. The duo have been credited with influencing a number of younger bands and have played with The Libertines at their London shows in 2003 and 2004. Their rock credentials were further cemented by an appearance at Glastonbury in 2005. After the death of Dave Peacock's wife in 2009, the duo went on hiatus and Chas toured on his own playing both his solo material and the pair's hits.
