Join thousands of spectators as the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) steps out of the concert hall and onto Trafalgar Square for the sixth annual BMW LSO Open Air Classics concert.
Conducted by Valery Gergiev and with rising star Behzod Abduraimov on the piano, the LSO this year performs a programme of Rachmaninov’s music, including his Second Symphony, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Symphonic Dances. Joining the London Symphony Orchestra on stage for the Symphonic Dances performance are 40 East London youths from the LSO On Track young musicians programme, as well as musicians from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Whether you are new to classical music, or a Rachmaninov enthusiast this is a brilliant opportunity to enjoy a free open-air concert in Central London.
The concert begins at 6.30pm, but make sure to arrive much earlier to secure a space. Large screens and sound systems will be in place to ensure everyone in the square can fully enjoy the experience.
