The veteran Welsh rockers sing songs from their extensive repertoire dating back to the 1970s. Their music is known for being heavily influenced by the Welsh language and culture giving the group an avant garde edge whilst their over-sized hair and rock image gave them a commercial look. The group were so rooted in their heritage that some of their songs were released in the Welsh language including the 1989 hit Change and the Welsh version Newid. Their music was often dismissed by the British press as pretentious and derivative but this did not stop them from achieving 5 million sales worldwide and 16 Top 50 UK singles. They have opened gigs for acts including U2 and Bob Dylan and that has helped gain them mainstream recognition with their music often being compared to the style of U2. Their song 68 Guns has also been featured in a Heineken television advertisement in the US. With smaller hair and less edgy outfits the group are touring again and embracing the current rock scene.
