About

Visit The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace and take in Maria Merian's Butterflies, a beautiful exhibition displaying the works of the artist and entomologist Maria Sibylla Merian.

Merian spent two years in Suriname, South America, at the end of the 17th century, studying animals and plants and publishing a book about her experiences entitled The Metamorphosis of the Insects of Suriname.

Admire Merian’s meticulous illustrations which tell her wonderful story, with more than 50 works on display from the Royal Collection, originally acquired by George III.
