Join the discussion on human consciousness with States of Mind: Tracing the Edges of Consciousness at Wellcome Collection.

A changing programme of exhibitions and installations examines this intriguing and difficult subject, bringing together philosophers, neuroscientists, psychologists and artists to offer their perspective. Through objects, works of art, and historical and scientific materials, the show explores the area that lies between consciousness and unconsciousness, including phenomena such as sleepwalking, memory loss, anaesthesia and synaesthesia.

Follow the history of neuroscience with Science | Soul, learn more about somnambulism, mesmerism and sleep paralysis in Sleep | Awake, consider the impact of language and its development on our sense of self with Language | Memory, and take a look at how a trauma or injury can affect our conscious experience in Being | Not Being.
