About

Celebrate the Olivier Awards’ 40th anniversary with Curtain Up: Celebrating 40 Years of Theatre in London and New York at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Go behind the scenes of London’s West End and New York’s Broadway, and follow the production of award-winning performances from script-writing, choreography, set-designs and technology, through to red-carpet award ceremonies.

This free display brings together original costumes, models, photographs, film clips and awards, documenting the history of the Olivier Awards and of the two theatre cities on both sides of the Atlantic.

See costumes used in Disney’s The Lion King, a dress worn by Dame Helen Mirren DBE in her award-winning role in The Audience and golden top hats from A Chorus Line. And take a closer look at set models from London’s award-winning Matilda the Musical and War Horse, as well as New York’s productions of Carousel and Sunday in the Park with George.
