About

Pause to reflect on our relationship with the natural world in the Saatchi Gallery’s beautiful exhibition Sister, Mother: The Cosmology of Rugman.

The London-based contemporary artist Rugman considers our understanding and interpretation of the world which surrounds us through this new body of artworks. The feminine central figure, underlining the power of the woman, is adorned with symbols of our belief systems, cultures and experiences drawn from our natural world, from the four elements and seasons, to emotions, the five senses and geometry. The four elements of fire, water, air and earth are conveyed through the artist’s choice of wood, paper, canvas and aluminium surfaces, and the manufacturing processes which made use of all four elements.
