Watch a spectacular production from one of dance’s finest artists as Until the Lions premieres at the Roundhouse.
Akram Khan, the award-winning choreographer, dancer and MBE, presents a beautiful new show based on Karthika Naïr’s retelling of the Mahabharata. Seamlessly blending the Indian classical dance form kathak with contemporary dance, Khan explores themes of sexuality and gender, and questions about how the passing of time changes the body.
Khan’s many influential projects have included acclaimed work for the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony. For this new production, Khan has enlisted the help of many of the creative team behind his Olivier Award-winning production DESH, including visual artist Tim Yip, lighting designer Michael Hulls, writer Karthika Naïr and dramatist Ruth Little.
Set in the Roundhouse’s iconic and architecturally unique circular main space, this is certain to be a hypnotic and spectacular world premiere of Until the Lions.
