Brush up on some of the great theatrical works to originate in Greece as Oresteia arrives at Trafalgar Studios.
Returning to the capital after a celebrated run at the Almeida Theatre, this completely reimagined production tells the story of Orestes' parents who are at war, triggering a family drama that spans multiple decades. Large scale, bloody and moving, this powerful saga was Aeschylus' final play.
Over the two millennia since it was written, its grand themes of justice, retribution and fairness still resonate today. The work has been adapted for the modern stage by Robert Icke, who recently directed The Fever, and stars Lia Williams as Klytemnestra and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) as Electra.
