Catch David Tennant on stage in one of Shakespeare’s finest plays, Richard II, part of King and Country: Shakespeare’s Great Cycle of Kings series at the Barbican.

Directed by Gregory Doran, this play concludes the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)’s four-play cycle and sees David Tennant reprise the lead role for a limited time only.

Richard is king and ordained by god to lead his people, but he is plagued by mortal troubles and some very human weaknesses. Insecure and vain, his shaky temperament poses a real risk to his nation as he becomes embroiled in a plot that could divide the great houses of England and would see his people dragged into a great civil war.

This play is part of King and Country: Shakespeare’s Great Cycle of Kings, RSC’s four-play cycle which marks the 400th anniversary of the playwright’s death. Tickets are also available to watch the complete cycle including Richard II, Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part II and Henry V.
