About

The Royal Opera House opens its 2015/16 season with a new production of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera Orphée et Eurydice.

Gluck’s opera follows the myth of the legendary Greek musician, poet and prophet Orpheus, and his attempt to rescue his wife Eurydice from the Underworld.

This is the first time the revised French version of the opera will be performed at Covent Garden. The opera is famed for its use of dancers and the prominent role of the chorus, as well as its classic arias.

Hofesh Shechter will co-direct his first opera and will choreograph the show with his own Hofesh Shechter Company of dancers in this classic celebration of the power of love.
