About

Experience thought-provoking theatre at its finest, with Consensual at the Ambassadors Theatre.

Presented by the National Youth Theatre and written by Evan Placey, this complex tale is an exploration of the consequences that arise from burying secrets – just what would you do if and when they return to haunt you?

The plot follows the lives of Freddie and Diane. Diane, who is the Head of Year 11, has been put in charge of implementing a new Healthy Relationships curriculum. Unfortunately, she then encounters Freddie, who she hasn't seen since a night six years ago when he was aged just 15. The two of them have very different perspectives as to exactly what happened that fateful night. He thinks that he might have been groomed for months while she thinks that he had managed to take advantage of her. When it comes to it though, neither of them can be fully sure exactly what had happened.

Exploring the always-controversial themes of sex and consent, nothing is quite as it seems in this moral maze.
