About

Experience an innovative take on Ivan Turgenev’s famous comedy of manners, as Three Days in the Country is played out on stage at the National Theatre.

Based on the Russian playwright’s A Month in the Country (which influenced many works by Chekhov), this re-imagined tale by award-winning director Patrick Marber adds an extra dimension to the witty, stylish and unconventional work.

Featuring John Simm, Amanda Drew, Mark Gatiss and Gawn Grainger, this comedy tells a moving story of a handsome tutor who arrives at a beautiful country estate in Russia during the mid-nineteenth century.

Looking to bring an element of romance and recklessness to the unconventional household, the occupants are set for a crash course in three types of love; forbidden love, maternal love and platonic love; as the tutor becomes an irresistible part of their lives.
