About

Children and their families in South Asia and Afghanistan have enjoyed the pasttime of flying kites for more than a century. See this amazing spectacle through video and photos from the area, as well as handmade kites created by artists and children from the Old City of Kabul, and inspired by Afghan and Islamic design motifs.

British charity, Turquoise Mountain, presents The Kites from Kabul exhibition at The V&A Museum of Childhood in celebration of one of the world's most iconic toys. Kite-flying's rich cultural and historical presence is seen in the bright colours that cover the skyline above Kabul most evenings.
