About

Encounter one of the most infamous characters in drama as the Almeida Theatre stages a modern adaptation of Medea.

Starring Kate Fleetwood (recently seen in the National Theatre's London Road and a familiar face from the Harry Potter films) in the title role, this production from Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold brings a completely fresh approach to Euripides' seminal play.

Stuck in a marriage that is slowly but surely breaking up, Medea realises that it is not just her romantic life that is in trouble. Exploring themes of revenge and liberty, this evergreen play is brimming with references to gender politics, questioning exactly what it means to be a wife.

With innovative choreography from Scott Ambler and startling sound design courtesy of the renowned Adam Cork, the classic work has rarely felt so vibrant and relevant.
