Discover Sikh culture and heritage at the Vaisakhi Festival in Trafalgar Square.
One of the most important events in the Sikh calendar, Vaisakhi is celebrated on 13 April (occasionally 14 April) each year by more than 20 million Sikhs worldwide. It was on this day in 1699 that the Khalsa order was established by Guru Gobind Singh. The annual London celebration, led by a Sikh community group, takes place later in the month.
Enjoy free live performances and spiritual music (kirtan), see works by Sikh artists and tuck into traditional food, as you mingle with community groups in the famous square. There are also plenty of family activities, including turban tying, at this cultural event which is open to everyone.
