About

Immerse yourself in a world of enchanting dance and unforgettable fairytale imagery with The Little Match Girl at Sadler's Wells.

Based on the eternally popular story by Hans Christian Andersen, this charming and spectacular show transports audiences to an icy cold Christmas Eve setting.

A poor young match girl is desperately wandering the lonely streets to sell her wares. Shivering, starving and down to her very last match to keep her warm, she suddenly sees what appears to be her loving grandmother. In a dreamlike state, she is taken by her grandmother to the moon, leaving her troubled and grey life behind for exciting adventure among the stars. Is that light up in the sky a shooting star or could it possibly be a match burning with supernatural brightness?

A heart-warming tale of hopes and dreams, this beautifully produced show boasts incredibly inventive visuals and dazzling dance courtesy of celebrated director and choreographer Arthur Pita.
