Now in its fiftieth year, the ever popular exhibition showcases some of the best photographic work to be found around the world. Featuring everything from beautiful landscape shots to atmospheric portraits of numerous animals, the thousands of competing entries have been narrowed down to a shortlist of 100. The selected pictures embody all the best elements of photojournalism, with beautiful framing, lighting and compositions.
A welcome addition to the 2014 show is the People's Choice Award, where members of the public can vote for one of 50 images to be added to the prestigious selection of 100 that form the main exhibition.
The many award winning images are premiered at the museum before going on a world tour that incorporates over 60 different nations.
