Uncover an exciting array of drawings in Dream, Draw, Work: Architectural Drawings by Norman Shaw, at the Royal Academy of Arts

Working during the Victorian era, Shaw became famous for his presentation ink drawings. His commissions led him to design the turreted New Scotland Yard on Embankment, and alterations and additions to the Royal Academy’s very own Burlington House

Many of the working drawings on display here are well-worn, after a hard life in the office and on sites circulated amongst clients and builders. From working drawings to dazzling perspectives, these practical pages were made by hand by the small number of apprentices and assistants Shaw employed.
