Royal Shakespeare Company supremo Gregory Doran brings his acclaimed productions of Henry IV Parts I and II to the Barbican, following their premieres in Stratford-Upon-Avon and a national tour.
Part I sees Henry prepare for the onset of war, as the feckless Prince Hal languishes in taverns with drunken companion Sir Falstaff and his cronies. However, the realities of battle awaken kingly qualities in Hal.
Sir Antony Sher returns to the RSC to play the questionable comic knight Falstaff. He has already received accolades for his interpretation, prompting comparisons with Robert Stephens' portrayal in 1991. Meanwhile, Jasper Britton portrays Henry IV and Alex Hassell is Prince Hal.
