Experience the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)’s production of Shakespeare’s great wartime drama, Henry IV Part II, part of King and Country: Shakespeare’s Great Cycle of Kings series at the Barbican.
Following its premiere in Stratford-upon-Avon and a UK tour, this thrilling production by Artistic Director Gregory Doran and the brilliant RSC creative team sees the return of Antony Sher as Falstaff, Jasper Britton as Henry IV and Alex Hassell as Prince Hal.
Fighting for survival at home and abroad, but with ever failing health, King Henry VI is unsure whether his son, Prince Hal, would ever make a suitable heir. Sent to recruit troops from the countryside, the unreliable Falstaff focuses on lining his own pockets rather than performing his duties. With his father’s health in terminal decline, Hal must choose between his duties and his erratic but dear friend Falstaff.
This play is part of King and Country: Shakespeare’s Great Cycle of Kings, RSC’s four-play cycle which marks the 400th anniversary of the playwright’s death. Tickets are also available to watch the complete cycle including Richard II, Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part II and Henry V.
